history

Ken Flagel established the company in 1975 as a 3 person consulting firm focusing primarily on the MDU Residential and small Commercial building sectors. In the late 1980's Maciej Lewandowski joined the firm in New Westminster and expanded the firm's clientele by acquiring projects in the Educational and Institutional sectors.

Maciej Lewandowski bought out, then retiring Ken Flagel, and took on the responsibility of President of Flagel Lewandowski Ltd., introducing Glenn Granstrom as a Vice President. As Principal, Glenn furthered the Commercial sector by acquiring large projects beyond C$25M. We are now engaged in projects that exceed C$100M in total construction costs.

In 1999, Phi Ho joined Flagel Lewandowski, whom added Electronics and Communications Engineering expertise. Phi Ho was brought on board as a Principal in 2004.

With its already established Communications and Security Consulting, Flagel Lewandowski continued to expand its Technology Consulting Group by adding specialized Audio-visual expertise. This was accomplished through the company's acquisition of two Audio-video Consulting firms along with their principal consultants.

With the Technology Consulting Group growing stronger and the refocusing of the Electrical Consulting Group, Flagel Lewandowski was relaunched as Acumen Engineering Ltd. in July of 2005. The relaunch came with a move to a larger, 'state of the art' facility in Burnaby.
